Fantasy 40/40: 2011 Fantasy Baseball Rankings: Top 100
By Tito on February 17th, 2011
- Albert Pujols 1B STL
- Hanley Ramirez SS FLA
- Miguel Cabrera 1B DET – Thirsty fella?
- Evan Longoria 3B TB
- Ryan Braun OF MIL
- Troy Tulowitzki SS COL
- Carl Crawford OF BOS - I want to move him higher. Could see a .320/22/100/110/45. No joke.
- David Wright 3B NYM – People question. He answers. Every year.
- Joey Votto 1B
- Adrian Gonzalez 1B BOS – Wouldn’t be surprised if he goes for 40 HR and 135 RBI.
- Chase Utley 2B PHI – His SB total still has him number one for me over Cano. He played well at the end of last season and is still a 30/20 threat at 2B.
- Ryan Howard 1B PHI - I see him reaching 40 HR again.
- Robinson Cano 2B NYY – I need to see it for another year to anoint him the new big dog on the block.
- Prince Fielder 1B MIL – Contract year, 40 HR wouldn’t surprise me, but I think 36-38 seems reasonable.
- Carlos Gonzalez OF COL – Same as Cano, I need to see it in a second full year. Hitting in front of Tulowitzki helps.
- Mark Teixiera 1B NYY
- Matt Holliday OF STL - He’s been automatic for .300, about 26 to 28 HR, 100 RBI and 90 runs. Might steal 10 bases too.
- Ryan Zimmerman 3B WAS – At a weak position, he’s one of the elites. A .300/30/110/100 year is possible with better top of the lineup production.
- Matt Kemp OF LAD – He was a first round pick for many in 2010. His BA dropped, but it was only a blip in the radar. Also got caught 15 times trying to steal last season. Cut those in half and he ends with 25. He’s ranked as low as #88 overall by some sites and experts.
- Alex Rodriguez 3B NYY
- Josh Hamilton OF TEX – I’m always hesitant to draft Hamilton because of his injury risk. Maybe his MVP will make his case for him.
- Roy Halladay SP PHI – I just don’t ever see myself drafting a pitcher with my first two picks. But if I was picking and he was available with my third pick, I’d have to pull the trigger because the value was too good to pass up. Other wise, safe and consistent offense to bank on with the first two picks.
- Nelson Cruz OF TEX – If he stays healthy, he is capable of 30/100/100/20. But not sure he gets more than 450 ABs.
- Justin Upton OF ARI – Another Matt Kemp. Has all the tools – just needs to put it together. He’s ranked a lot lower by the expert sites, but should be taken within the first four rounds.
- Andrew McCutchen OF PIT – If you’re a follower, you already know that I’m a huge fan. He’s got 20/40 inside of him. Stop crying B.J. Upton fans.
- Shin-Soo Choo OF CLE – .300/20/90/85/20.
- Jose Reyes SS NYM – After Jose, Jose, Jose, SS gets pretty thin.
- Kevin Youkilis 1B BOS – Better used at 3B, will get it within first week or month in most leagues.
- Dustin Pedrioa 2B BOS
- Felix Hernandex SP SEA
- Adam Dunn 1B CHW – He moves into a big time hitter’s park and he returns to the 40 HR mark.
- Ian Kinsler 2B TEX – Maybe this is the year he plays a full season?
- Jason Heyward OF ATL – Just making a pit stop here ay #33, on his way up the ladder.
- Tim Lincecum SP SF
- Brandon Phillips 2B CIN
- Hunter Pence OF HOU
- Dan Uggla 2B ATL
- Adrian Beltre 3B TEX
- Justin Morneau 1B MIN – Not sure about this concussion thing.
- Adam Wainwright SP STL
- Cliff Lee SP PHI
- Jose Bautista 3B/OF TOR – Got a fat extension. Should hit at least 35 HR, but does he really hit 45 again?
- Ichiro Suzuki OF SEA
- Joe Mauer C MIN - I don’t draft catchers.
- Victor Martinez C/1B DET – Ever, unless they fall far, far in drafts. But in two catcher leagues? I can maybe see it. Maybe. But not for me. Ever.
- Jon Lester SP BOS
- C.C. Sabathia SP NYY
- Alex Rios OF CHW
- Jayson Werth OF WAS
- Clayton Kershaw SP LAD
- Justin Verlander DET
- Ubaldo Jimenez SP COL
- Jay Bruce OF CIN – I see big things from Jay Bruce in 2011.
- Chris Young OF ARI – A 27/24 season would be nice for Young owners.
- Brian McCann C ATL
- Andre Ethier OF LAD
- Martin Prado 2B/3B ATL – Will add OF to his eligibility. He’s a .300/15/60/90 guy.
- Francisco Liriano SP MIN
- Derek Jeter SS NYY
- Elvis Andrus SS TEX
- Jimmy Rollins SS PHI – Not sure how much longer Rollins deserves this ranking. Is this the last year? Or does he shut me up?
- Shane Victorino OF PHI
- Buster Posey C/1B SF – Solid player, needs to prove it wasn’t a one year fluke. But once again, I don’t draft catchers.
- Casey McGehee 3B MIL – A nice option if all the elites are off the board, five rounds later.
- Mark Reynolds 3B BAL – Could reach 40 HR in small Camden Yards.
- B.J. Upton OF TB – A 20/40 guy. Not sure he’s hitting .270 though – probably more in the .250 range. Waiting for that 25 HR season.
- Michael Stanton OF FLA – Stanton will hit 30 HR. The question is how long before he hits 40.
- Jered Weaver SP LAA
- Josh Johnson SP FLA – I think Johnson is filthy, but not sure how his shoulder holds up.
- Zack Greinke SP MIL – I see a big season for Greinke in the NL.
- Cole Hamels SP PHI – I like Cole Hamels in the 4 slot.
- Yovani Gallardo SP MIL
- Tommy Hanson ATL
- David Price SP TB
- Aramis Ramirez 3B CHC
- Rickie Weeks 2B MIL – One healthy season, too much of a risk personally for me.
- Curtis Granderson OF NYY – A full year could bring 30/20.
- Jacoby Ellsbury OF BOS – Could steal 50 bases.
- Michael Young 3B TEX
- Drew Stubbs OF CIN – A Fantasy 40/40 favorite, he’s capable of 25/35.
- Kendry Morales LAA – Not sure his wheel holds up. Reports are that he’s still a bit gimpy and sluggish. I’d find a different option.
- Colby Rasmus OF STL
- Carlos Marmol CL CHC – He’s a strikeout machine in the closer’s role. Saves are a roll of the dice anyway, might as well take the guy that collects K’s.
- Joakim Soria CL KC
- Neftali Feliz CL TEX
- Brian Wilson CL SF
- Heath Bell CL SD
- Roy Oswalt SP PHI
- Pedro Alvarez 3B PIT – A budding fantasy star, Alvarez should reach at least 26 HR with a upside of 35.
- Paul Konerko 1B CHW – Aging vet loses some numbers to new arrival Adam Dunn. Also, he already signed his contract.
- Dan Haren SP LAA
- Billy Butler 1B KC
- Matt Cain SP SF
- Brett Gardner OF NYY - If Gardner repeats, he’ll be a TOP 75 option and a TOP 20 OF.
- Jose Tabata OF PIT – Another Pirate makes the list, Tabata has potential to steal 35 and score 90 runs.
- Aaron Hill 2B TOR
- Chris Carpenter SP STL
- Pablo Sandoval 3B SF
- Alexei Ramirez CHW
- Corey Hart OF
