Fantasy 40/40: Fantasy News From Around the Diamond
By Tito on September 8th, 2010
- Vernon Wells TOR - The Bug hit 2 HR yesterday and has 4 in 3 games. Wells has bounced back in 2010 and has become a TOP 35 outfielder in the fantasy world again. Wells is currently on a tear and helping owners right now in their fantasy playoffs.
- Michael Bourn HOU – The speedster was 3 for 4 with 3 RBI, 2 R scored and a SB last night- he has 47 bags on the year and is a great option in roto leagues.
- Brandon Inge DET - Currently having a down year, Inge hit his 10th HR on the season. He’s more of an AL option at this point of his career.
- BJ Upton TB – HR. 3 R. SB. He has the talent – just can’t put it all together. He’s at 15/39 which are splits I love. He’s batting .237 – a stat I hate.
- Carl Crawford TB - 4 for 4 with 2 ribeye steaks. Chase that dolla CC.
- Shane Victorino PHI - The Flyin Hawaiian went 2 for 5 with a HR and a SB. He’s 17/30 on the year. Also has 4 SB in his last 3 games.
- Delmon Young MIN - Someone who was on a lot of people’s watch list this season, Young has put up some monster numbers this season. He’s at .303-16-97-67-4. Don’t you wish you took him back in March in the 11th round instead of taking Chris Coghlan?
- Ike Davis NYM – We like Ike. The ASU alum has had a productive rookie season, hitting his 18th HR yesterday. He’s been one of a few bright spots for those Metsies this year – Davis is a decent CI option in deeper mixed leagues and a must in NL formats.
- Eric Young Jr. COL - EYJr was 2 for 3 with another SB. He has 14 SB in 34 games. He should be the Rockies starter at 2B come 2011.
- Josh Fields KC - Josh Fields got called up and has hit in all of his appearances. He hit his 1st HR yesterday in Minny. Nothing crazy. Fields was once a prospect with hopes of becoming a MLB starter – keep hoping Josh. He’s only an option in the deepest AL formats.
- Michael Stanton FLA – The Beast hit another one and now has 3 in 3 games. 18 HR on the season in 275 AB. Great trend. .243 on the season – bad trend.
- Mat Latos SD - 7 INN, 10 K, 4 hits, 1 ER and 0 walks. Latos has developed into a fantasy stud worth starting in all formats. With the Padres fighting for a playoff spot, expect Latos to see his regular starts. He’s 14-5 and his 2.21 ERA leads the majors.
- Dillon Gee NYM – The Mets called up Gee to replace Johan’s scheduled start. He may have earned himself another start and might be someone you can use down the stetch in NL leagues or deeper h2h formats.
- Tim Lincecum SF - I’ve traded for this guy now twice in the last two years. Both times near the deadline. Both times – he’s disappointed. However, after a couple of spotty starts, Timmy has posted solid, back to back games and has earned my trust again. Short leash. I hope he’s good to go – his Nolasco-ness was killing me.
- David Price TB - D Nice is 17-6 and making a late push for the AL Cy Young. His ERA sits at 2.87 and he has 163 K in 178.2 INN.
- James McDonald PIT - Shutout the Braves over 7 INN and got his 3rd W on the season. He’s more of a NL option in deep, deep leagues.
- Trevor Hoffman MIL - Congratulations. The veteran closer became the first player in MLB history to reach 600 saves. Expect Hoffman to walk into the sunset this offseason.
