2010 PROJECTIONS & OUTLOOK: .293-18-78-65-0. This 24-yr-old phenom is in year 2 and has the reins from the start. He should continue to mature and improve on his numbers from last year. He is in a young lineup, with other names like Tejada, Roberts and Markakis, so he doesn’t have to carry the load. The predictions look pretty good and I feel he should be pretty close. Could he possibly hit that phenom level this year? Sure. Will he? Not sure. If you’re in a keeper league and he is available, pick him up. He is currently the 8th or 9th catcher being taken in mock drafts; people seem hesitant taking him after the post-hype letdown. Here at 40/40, we like Wieters. I think he can now relax, not worry about new surroundings, new cities. He has a year of experience and I think he’ll be a TOP 5 backstop this year. I’m sure O’s fans agree.
